They have recently opened an office in Vancouver and are seeking to hire a Business Development Manager North America, who will be responsible for the commercial development and business development of their industrial projects within the North American marketplace.

The Opportunity and Role

This is a critical role and our client is looking for a strategic innovative sales leader who will cultivate business within the North American market.  The Business Development Manager North America is a newly created leadership role designed for a commercially focused sales leader to lead customer sales within the polycarbonate sector.  The ideal candidate will be trusted to dive right in, take the lead, be curious, and use initiative to drive revenue growth and increase market share.

Reporting to the CEO you will serve as the primary contact for new customers in the North American market and be responsible for building and maintaining this market. 

As the Business Development Manager North America, your mandate will be to develop an innovative sales process and strategy and manage all the sales activities and post-sales activities for the development of business.  You will be responsible for building key relationships with stakeholders in your sector.  Working with the head office you will be responsible to support the customer solutions through the sales and implementation process.

We are looking for a talented sales leader who is willing to roll up their sleeves to get things done, to drive revenue, customer acquisition and be responsible for the sales strategy relative to targets.

As a key representative of the company, you will have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate the value proposition to prospective clients, optimize the selling process over time and build and maintain long-term relationships.

Key Deliverables – to get started

  1. Understand the company’s value proposition and its clients; initially working with head office and operations you will understand and analyze the market, the industry, the customers.  
  2. Once you understand the market you will be responsible for the goals, structure, and growth of the North American market.  You will be expected to achieve 100% quota and build strong relationships with your customers.
  3. Ultimately, you will create a structured, cohesive process that allows you to continuously hit revenue objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a customer base for the North American market.
  • Meet assigned sales targets and strategic objectives for the North America market.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and product demos for customers.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an on-going basis.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department on commercial proposals and respond to RFP’s
  • Collaborate with Research and Development to develop new products according to market demand.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline for forecasting revenue
  • Represent the company at tradeshows, conferences, and industry events.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree is required (with a preference for a Bachelors Degree in Business or Communications)
  • Over ten years experience in a consultative sales role is required
  • At least five years in a sales leadership or management role is required
  • Strategic sales experience and a successful track record of personally selling and closing complex sales
  • A background in plastics, laminates, facades, cladding, partitions, curtain walls, and other architectural components is an asset
  • B2B selling experience is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage others
  • Self-directed and resourceful, with a passion for finding new customers and new opportunities
  • Entrepreneurial mindset excited by the prospect of developing sales strategy and closing sales
  • Computer Literacy – proficient with CRM software, MS Office.
